The Guadalquivir River is the largest river in Andalucia. The origin of
the Guadalquivir is located in the Sierra de Cazorla and this Spanish
River has a length of about 570 km to finally flow into the sea near
Seville. En route, the Guadalquivir flows through the cities Cordoba and
Seville. Until Cordoba the Guadalquivir is navigable but ships can not
get any further than Sevilla. Guadalquivir is the Arabic name meaning
"large river" .
At the mouth of this river lies the Donana national park which is an
important place for many species and especially the many migratory birds
who descend on their tour from north to south and vice versa.
The total area of this park covers over 50,000 hectares.
